I asked Gideon if he could restore a missing and a broken leg of this very old hand made ceremonial Tanoa bowl from Fiji. I brought with me a piece of Vesi wood (Pacific teak) that the bowl was originally made from that he was able to use to restore it using both a wooden lathe and then hand carving it to fit seamlessly. I couldn’t have picked a more passionate professional to carry out this job. It wasn’t a huge job, but it was a culturally important one for me. So as we say in Fiji Vinaka vakalevu
I got this coffee grinder from nan, it's older than my mum. When I received it, the draw was broken, the bowl has a big crack, and the lid was stuck. Gideon brought it back to life without changing so much. It still an old piece like I always remember. Thank you so much for your work and your respect for the piece.
We are absolutely delighted with Gideon’s furniture restoration and would highly recommend Benchmark Restorations. We entrusted Gideon with family furniture with deep sentimental value and he treated the project with kindness and respect whilst demonstrating his deep craftsmanship - he has restored our furniture beautifully and given each piece a new lease of life that we will enjoy for years to come. Thank you Gideon!
Thank you Gideon I love what you have achieved with the restoration of my dining room setting! Looks amazing. Mary Lowing
