Belton History George W. Scott and William H. Colbern purchased about 80 acres of land on August 13, 1869 from Manzey Q. Ashby of Kentucky who had received it a month earlier from the U.S. Government. Scott and Colbern filed a plat for the 80 acres in December 1871, and called the new town Belton. Belton was incorporated in 1872. It was named for a close friend of Scott's, Capt. Marcus Lindsey Belt, who helped Scott survey the land. The two had served in the Civil War together. This is the highest tax bracket city, the water is super expensive, and the worst streets in Missouri, and the politics pocket the tax dollars and that's why this city is so shitty. A lot of drugs in this city and not a good place to raise a family at all.
They called me one day and told me I owe them $2600 cause since July last year they messed up and was only billing me for trash how the heck you do that when that's the main service of the bill. And you do thousands and thousands of bills ????? Some one please make it make sense

The Police of Belton are ticketing non-local travelers for driving 45 mph on the outer roads next to the highway. The police officer cited the speed limit as 30 mph—I hadn’t even reached a single 30 mph sign from the direction I was coming from. Within a quarter of a mile past where I had been pulled over, the speed limit was marked at 45 mph. It was marked at 45 mph for a majority of the road.
