I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Bella Groves last week, and as a dementia care professional that often visits communities caring for people living with dementia, I am still in awe of all of what I saw at Bella Groves. This is HOME. This is a FAMILY. I wish everyone on the dementia journey had a place like Bella Groves to turn to. They are more than assisted living, they are an educational hub. They are a place of support for anyone on the dementia journey. Their local community is lucky to have them.
Our family has walked the long road of my mom suffering from Alzheimer's disease. She is young, now 70, and it's been a long and hard 9 years. We knew one day we would have to put her somewhere but even the thought of "abandoning her" made me sick to my stomach. Through God's grace we came across Bella Groves and decided to tour. I have had the privilege of volunteering at Bella Groves for a year and a half, and it has truly been an amazing experience. My six-year-old daughter and I have formed wonderful connections with the residents, sharing joy at parties and celebrations, playing games, doing crafts, and simply spending time together.
