My mom is at Maplewood Retirement in Ottawa recovering from a broken leg. She reports the PSWs at Maplewood are unable to bathe her, they respond saying they are not familiar and have no experience, that it's not what they typically do. However the PSWs at Bayshore have been a God send, all who have visited my mom thus far have been amazing. My mom has been very grateful for their excellent service and expert experience in helping someone bathe. ❤
Service received by PWD workers arrange by HomeatHealth. The government pays for these services and some PSW are very committed and take their jobs seriously. However, working with seniors the company and some PSW workers should be more sensible and respectful of the seniors' needs. Why a senior needs to wait until some PSW decide to show up half an hour before their shifts ends or show up and dont do the activities they are scheduled to. A gent;e,am came right after my wife was released from hospital. He was able to explain several issues that we were facing and how to handle them. He greatly reassured us.
When my father was discharged from hospital with terminal bone cancer the Ontario Health at Home coordinator at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa provided us with a care plan that involves 4 PSW visits per day and assured us this plan would be put in place for him going forward. Since his discharge 4 days ago Bayshore PSWs have failed to show up for the noon and suppertime visits each day except for yesterday when someone did show up for 10 minutes at supper, otherwise no one at noon or supper since his discharge.
