Lame. I bought a replacement car battery here for my 2021 car. When I did, I asked if they could change the old battery out. I was careful to note that it would need an OBD scanner tool to program it on the car computer for the new battery. They had the specifics for my car. I was told this would be fine and that they could program the battery, no worries. It was a $60 fee for a VW/BMW.
