BankNewport, formerly Bank of Newport where I have had my accounts for over 25 years may have grown immensely throughout the state making it easier to access, but the customer service has declined rapidly! I would never recommend banking at Banknewport, especially the 10 Road Road branch North Kingstown, where I have been banking for over 5 years. I have been a BankNewport customer for just a few short weeks and will be for only a few more. Their lack of quality service and unwillingness to accept accountability is astounding in such a highly competitive business. When I raised a specific concern to my banker for a repeat occurrence of negligence, his comment was, “it’s not the first time I’ve heard that”. If that’s the case, it extends to a question of competency for the management team to allow the problem to continue.
I've banked with Bank of Newport for over 25 years. Beware of their home equity loans. They will charge you a big penalty fee if you pay off your loan early. They don't tell you this in advance.
