I recently had a frustrating experience with Bank OZK, and I would strongly caution anyone thinking about opening an account with them, particularly a CD. It seems they have an intentionally difficult process for closing accounts, making it almost impossible to manage things conveniently. I attempted to close my account, but they will not allow customers to do this via phone (customer service) or online — you are forced to go into a physical branch. I ran in to this bank because I was across the street at Watters Creek. I wanted to exchange 5 $20's for one $100 bill to give as a gift to a neighbor starting college next week. First, there were 3 tellers there, with no clients at the windows. I was only greeted by one of the tellers, and when I asked her to exchange the $20'S for a $100 bill, she told me to wait as she was helping a driveup customer.
