French Canadian bank that bought Bank of the West. Seems good so far. 1/15/26 Update: upgrading from 4 to 5 stars. It's been well over a year since the transition and BMO has made me a fan! It's been a complicated year with a business sale, home improvement loan, investment changes and even a small case of fraudulent charges; and BMO has been outstanding at handling it all. I have been banking with Bank of the West/BMO for over 10 years and I have never had a bad experience. When I've had fraud on my account, they took care of it. When they offered a credit 💳 card for 0%, they issued me a card. And when I needed to take money out, the customer service is great. I've recommended BMO to my friends too.
Wish I could give ZERO stars. I was a bank of the west custormer and it has been a great big pain in the @$$ since they took over that bank. Dealing with bmo custormer service which I have to do muiltible times every week because they suck so bad has been a time consuming pain in the @$$. I will be closing my personal and muilitble business accounts tomorrow after my last interaction with their non custormer service which you can barely understand.
