Horribly confusing bank, so regrettable that they have entered the California market so aggressively. Customer service doesn’t talk to mortgage, mortgage doesn’t work with collections. So many times have I sat on the phone trying to understand simple timing of deposit to mortgage payment timing and no one has answers. Easy bank to get money out - though impossible to receive intelligent service. The branch is fine, BMO is the worst bank I have ever dealt with.
I am shocked by their lack of customer service. I deposited a lot of $$ and they wouldn’t give me 2 pens with their name on it so I could share with my friends. I’m looking for another bank. I prefer the neighborhood because it’s walking distance and in gourmet ghetto.
If there were a star for 0, I would have pressed it. This is the worst phone service I have ever encountered in dealing with banks in all my 83 years. Oh where are you, Bank of the West?
If I could give -5 star I would. The only reason I got a account here was for the safety deposit box. The bank constantly told me that my account will get closed for dormancy. I would check in to ensure that does not happen. They kept charging fees and kept taking money out of my account. They always blamed me for the fees -- of course. I initially chose BMO on Shattuck Ave in Berkeley because I wanted to support a local neighborhood institution I could rely on—biggest mistake ever. From the beginning, I was upfront about my intentions of opening the account, explaining that the funds were needed for a home purchase. I provided all necessary paperwork and even discussed my situation over the phone before scheduling an appointment.
