Unacceptable experience with BMO. BMO mixed up my account with another customer and gave them access to my personal banking information—without ever calling or emailing me. By the time I got the notice in the mail, my credit card had already been compromised. When I went to close my account, the branch manager (Jeffrey) refused. (ZERO stars, were it possible.) Avoid BMO (Bank of Montreal) like the plague! I opened an account and was told that after I did a My Financial Compass evaluation, I would received a $100 gift card “in approximately 30 days". Well, it took six months and the filing of two separate reports with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (a federal agency of the United States government) before BMO finally ponied up my gift card. BMO bank was excellent. Used their ATM and it worked well. Also went in and the staff/cashier was very helpful. Yes it doesnt look like a real bank, but then again, this is the direction a lot of banks are going. We are from Canada and it was like being at home. So if you deal with BMO at home, then open up a BMO Harris account. You can connect your accounts and transfer and withdraw funds. Just wish they would open more branches. I give it 10 dollars out of 10.
This is not a regular bank branch with tellers and such. It's a "wealth management office". You won't be able to waltz in and make deposits and withdrawals. Very nice people, and they managed to take care of what I needed, it was just kind of a pain.
