Got a fraud alert that my debit card number was used but with wrong expiration date (it always have with me) and the fact that wrong expiration date was used suggests a leak. I locked the card, and asked customer care to disable it. Visited this branch to get a replacement card and was informed they cannot issue a new card because the account was opened online and they cannot verify my identity despite carrying 2 forms of official IDs AND the actual physical debit card. Pretty useless. Will be closing my account with BMO.

Update 2/18/2026 Only two weeks after account opening, unauthorized transactions made without PIN totaling in thousands appeared on my debit card even though it never left my house. I called fraud department immediately and now I’ve lost trust in BMO’s system.
