I already posted this review on other site, and I'm going to post it everywhere I can.
I wish there would be a "zero" star to give them. This company is a complete rip-off. They were nice to get my money, but then the post production service was worse than you can imagine. No communication, no answers, playing some games, delaying services. They told me that the Press Release service would take 3-4 weeks. After 9 weeks of waiting and asking, still no answer. They basically stole my money. I paid additional $2000 for FB ads. Most of that money was supposed to go to FB for the actual impressions and clicks on the ad. But after I was over with their BS and cancelled the agreement, they told me they won't refund me the money that was supposed to be paid to FB for the ads. Because they already started working on the ad, which was producing one sentence over period of 1 month (!!!), so I'm not eligible for any refund. They just kept the money they were supposed to pay to FB, and never did. So I paid $2000 for one sentence that never got used. No integrity in those people. This company is a disgrace to the publishing industry. Please stay away from those thieves, and do you homework. There are other companies that will actually work for you, not rip you off. I regret I didn't read all those horrible opinions about them before I wasted $6000 for nothing. This "Hay House" lure is a joke. And from what I read they have legal problems. People complain about royalties never being paid. Fortunately, I got out in time, before the book went for sale, so at least I won't have that problem. Overall, this was one of the worst experiences with a company I've ever had. Never again. Don't fall into this trap, you deserve better.

If I taught a course on poor business ethics, Balboa Press would be the quintessential example I would use. On every level, this company gets a 0. It would take too long to list each grievance. Unfortunately, if you decide to self-publish using Balboa Press, expect unprofessionalism, mistakes (in which you will be blamed), zero accountability and assistance, and internal chaotic communication between departments. Worst of all, good luck getting your royalty check(s). Save yourself a headache, high blood pressure, and unnecessary aggravation, do not use this company.

Balboa Press should be ashamed of their business practice and COMPLETE LACK OF BUSINESS ethics. Going into the excruciatingly long list of complaints, with the final egregious act of not paying their authors, will require more energy than I am willing to give it at this moment. Here is what you can expect once you become high pressured into purchasing one of their packages: Unprofessional, disinterested, and irresponsible staff. Mistakes are commonplace. Accountability is non-existent, as they blame the author for their mistakes.. There is no help in marketing. Communication does not exist. And, try to get paid! This is where their absurd inadequacies really shine. Their excuses are so ridiculous, it's hard to imagine that anybody or company can be so blatantly absurd.

For any first time authors out there DON’T TRUST THIS PUBLISHER AS THEY ARE A VANITY PRESS!!!! What you pay for here you can do for FREE on amazon. They also target young naive writers. What they also do is they charge you from what I remember $1200 to get your book Published, then say that you’ll get 100% royalties well who on earth is going to buy a papaerback costing over $14 if its only a couple of hundred worlds long. Their marketing isn’t included in the $1200 package so it’s all a scam. With the $1200 all the offer is a paperback and an ebook and you have to pay over $200 to buy just under 200 books. It was a long time ago that I published with this vanity publisher so I can’t remember pricing exactly. Don’t be desperate guys to get your book out there not just with this company but with any company - there are other ways to get your book out there without paying any money. I self publish on amazon now!

NO STARS are worthy of this fraudulent company. My book was published in March 2021. I have not received any royalties AND my self-publishing company (Balboa Press) is not providing me any data AND my emails are not being returned. I was given an unofficial report of sales in a short email that I KNOW IS INACCURATE. DO NOT PUBLISH WITH BALBOA PRESS:A DIVISION OF HAY HOUSE. DID YOU KNOW THAT HAY HOUSE DOESN'T EVEN ACCEPT BALBOA PRESS AS APART OF THEM? IT IS A TOTAL SCAM.

I would not reccomend to anyone
Iv been begging for them to pay me, and to pay me safely and electronically since spring 2019!
It’s a world wide pandemic ! It’s all cashless now and will be for good in London, and I don’t have a USA bank account! All they do is tell me I need a USA account to be paid !
They took all my savings after I got sucked into signing up and promised so much !than it was down hill from there
The extra costs, the lack of communication the terrible support !

One star is for the quality of the printing by the vendor they use and then upcharge a ton for. Everything else, from customer service to quality, is horrible. They only contact you to sell you more and are rude if you decline. They either do not respond at all to questions or concerns, respond with something that has nothing to do with your concern, or respond with defensiveness and extreme offensiveness. I understand why their are lawsuits by authors against them. This company is the worst I have dealt with.

I decided to use Balboa Press to publish a memoir. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to cancel my agreement with them before we even really got started. Roadblocks, lack of communication about what I can have in my memoir, I was told I need a power of attorney for ALL people mentioned in the book, lack of clarity on issues and poor customer service, meant I simply couldn't work with them a couple of weeks in... now they will not refund the first deposit I gave them, even though all they did was scan my first couple of chapters and tell what I need to do to change the book before proceeding. I am very disappointed. I have my first book published with them, which I published five years ago, and it has done nothing in terms of sales, due to poor editing, and so I have removed it from their website. I will rewrite the book using a different company that is more professional and not just trying to get my money.

MY DAD TALKED TO SOMEONE ABOUT PUBLISHING ONE OF HIS BOOKS. SINCE THAT TIME MY MOTHER PASSED AWAY AND HE IS HAVING SOME HEALTH ISSUES. WE ARE MOVING HIM WITH HIS FAMILY SO WE CAN HELP HIM. HE IS IN HIS 70'S. SO THIS BITCH FROM BALBOA CALLED HIM AND HE VERY POLITELY TOLD HER THE SITUATION AND SAID HE WAS SORRY AND SHE TOLD HIM HE JUST WASTED HER TIME AND THEN SHE HUNG UP ON HIM!!!! SERIOUSLY YOU STUPID BITCH!!!!! NO WONDER YOUR COMPANY HAS SUCH HORRIBLE REVIEWS!!!!!! UNPROFESSIONAL MUCH??!! DON'T EVER CONTACT US AGAIN BECAUSE YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH BEING A BITCH TO AN OLD MAN BUT YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH THAT WITH ME.
