I made a reservation today at 12 noon for a pickup at the Charleston, SC Airport. I called one hour later to cancel. I was informed that I was going to be charged $150.00 cancellation fee. The Customer Service Rep wouldn't budge. The Supervisor wouldn't budge.I have been renting exclusively from Avis for ten years, but that didn't matter. They wanted their $150 even if it meant I would never rent from them again. I rented a car for an upcoming trip out of Denver, Colorado. When the Covid-19 virus shut down my state (WA) and restricted travel, the event I was traveling for cancelled. I cancelled my AVIS reservation a month out, due to event and trip cancellation. At the time I was told (on the phone) that they would reimburse their $50 cancellation fee. I had a reservation here, booked several weeks before my flight to the area for work. Due to the pandemic, the location had amended hours and closed early, which is completely understandable. What is entirely unacceptable is that, despite having a reservation with up to date contact information, nobody bothered to notify me that they would not be able to honor my reservation.
