Avoid like the plague. Avis preferred plus line never honored. Always 1 hr wait in line. The girl is incompetent. Last year management swore this would never happen again, so I gave them another chance. Never ever use avis at HPN!!! Play double if you have to to avoid this place

Unlike Hertz who will charge you for fuel based on the indicated amount on the dashboard, will somehow measure to the 1/10th of a gallon and charge you exorbitant rates for fuel. I returned with my fuel gauge, indicating full but was still charged to completely top off the tank. This is particularly challenging at this airport as there are no gas stations in the immediate vicinity of the airport.

I have never had this experience with a rental service. I’ve used Avis at bigger airports without any issues. Here Avis was combined with budget line and I waited in line for an hour and 40 minutes with about 10 people in front of me to start. The man at the front left to go on an hour lunch. I understand that is his right and I am not frustrated a him, but rather the lack of staffing. I ended up having to cancel and get a Lyft as I had somewhere to be at a certain time. July 3, 2026. Westerchester County Airport. After I waited 45 minutes in line and was assigned to a car, pick up the car from space A01, and loaded half of my personal stuff in trunk the attendant told me the front desk just informed her that the car I picked up is assigned to two people and I must wait until it was strength out. In mean time, I had an appointment I need to keep. After half hour I was told I can go. Today, I rented another car and was told that I still have the car out and I’m not able to get another car.
