This was by far the worst AVIS location I’ve ever dealt with. Our plane was delayed, and we called ahead to confirm the car would still be held. Corporate assured us that since our flight details were in the reservation, the local office would wait. Unfortunately, when we arrived, no one was at the counter. We reserved a 7-seater SUV in advance for our family road trip, but upon arrival we encountered extremely poor service. There was a line of roughly 10 customers, and unlike other rental companies, Avis provided no dedicated counter or service option for Preferred members. As a result, I was forced to wait over an hour, only to be told that no vehicles were available despite my confirmed reservation. I reserved a Mini Van and paid for it in advance as well. I arrived at Westchester Airport to find there was a long line with only person working at the counter. I waited 1 hour to reach the counter to be told THEY DO NOT HAVE A MINI VAN FOR ME!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL !!!!!!! THE man asked me if I would take a large SUV instead ? THEN I'M TOLD THEY DONT HAVE A LARGE SUV EITHER !!!!!!! He apologized but that still leaves me without a car large enough for my needs. Our flight got delayed and we attempted to call Avis customer service and the office more than 20 times. No answer and customer service was completely unhelpful. Rental car services should answer the phones because flights can be delayed or cancelled, or plans might change. This was completely unacceptable and the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with a rental car service, and we haven’t even picked up the car!
