Called to make reservations as my truck was going in for tranny work.. I asked questions and received quick short answers from young lady who clearly was upset I interrupted her nap time. Once I arrived she was again short and clearly upset that I had an out of state DL. (I own homes in two states. But can only have one DL) At this point she said You didn't tell me you had an out of state DL .I replied .. I didn't realize it was an issue and you didn't ask! Booked a car almost a week ahead of time for my wife. It was a smaller SUV which she is comfortable driving. Upon arrival at Avis they had two cars available neither of which were the car she wanted or even in the same (or similar) class. Both were much larger SUVs. Guy at the counter was pretty rude and she had no choice but to take the car as she needed to be somewhere When I was renting the car the larger SUV was listed as available and was also cheaper I imagine because of its size and gas prices. I booked a minivan with Avis weeks in advance for a family trip to Massachusetts. When my mother in law arrived to pick it up, they told her they had zero minivans available — despite the confirmed reservation. No solution was offered, no effort was made to help, and the next-best option was over $1,000 more. I didn’t prepay, but a reservation is still a commitment — and Avis clearly failed to honor it.
