Booked a car almost a week ahead of time for my wife. It was a smaller SUV which she is comfortable driving. Upon arrival at Avis they had two cars available neither of which were the car she wanted or even in the same (or similar) class. Both were much larger SUVs. I booked a minivan with Avis weeks in advance for a family trip to Massachusetts. When my mother in law arrived to pick it up, they told her they had zero minivans available — despite the confirmed reservation. No solution was offered, no effort was made to help, and the next-best option was over $1,000 more. I didn’t prepay, but a reservation is still a commitment — and Avis clearly failed to honor it.
