Slowest rental car counter I’ve ever been to. No benefit to being preferred. You will wait 30-60 mins to get a car.

I never had a worst avis experience until I met this young looking guy with black pullover(and wig like hair don’t remember his name) at Portland Avis car rental office. He almost put me into trouble and caused a risky drive for 2 days by giving a different car than on the agreement resulting into chaos ..even after asking rental copy to verify, he argued and didn’t give me a rental agreement and wasted time and certainly a worst case experience I had. Like other reviewers, I am loyal to Avis and am a Preferred Member, until now. I returned the vehicle a few hours early , and as people know, there are signs to park the rental in ‘open spaces’, which I did. I was met by the attendant , an angry little guy with limited English vocabulary, who told me to re-park the vehicle (two spots over.)…no problem. Rented Avis car from Boston-Logan airport with vibration that shook steering wheel, floor and dash above 60 MPH when driving to Portland, Maine. This was not evident in Boston as speeds were below 55 MPH. Called customer service near Portland for exchange. Phone contact unable to verify my location by giving them rest area name or I-95 mile marker/exit location. Phone contact stated all was needed for exchange at Portland (PWM) was text sent to me. We will never rent from Budget or Avis again. Our experience was unacceptable from start to finish. We rented our car from Bangor, Maine, purchased the toll pass for our drive to Washington, D.C., and were instructed by Budget customer service to pick up the physical transponder in Portland.
