Avoid if you can. I was quoted one price, but after returning the car, they quietly added over $150 in bogus fees. When I caught one of them, I had to spend time arguing with customer service just to get it removed. The next day, I found even more false charges. When I called again, the rep was rude, dismissive, and said they’d have to ‘investigate’ for 10 business days. After I followed up, they said I needed to wait another 3-5. If I hadn’t gone through my receipt line by line, they would’ve just kept the extra money.
The whole experience renting with Avis was a nightmare. I’m so grateful I checked my receipt and noticed my receipt went from $267 to $416. When we tried to sort it out with the branch, we were shut down and sent to speak with customer service who rude, dismissive and terrible at their jobs. Beware of renting a car with Avis. We booked the car for 2 days and returned it on time and were charged an additional $149.39 in late fees! When I brought this up to the staff at the branch, they refused to help and told me there was nothing they could do and to contact customer service, who were unbelievably rude and unhelpful. I had an outstanding experience with Avis in Banff Canada. The regional manager and counter team were all friendly and helpful. Booked online and they had a very nice Dodge Charger ready to go. Thank you Avis! They were quite helpful and I was out the door and on the road within less than 10 minutes.
