I recently rented a car from this Avis location for a month with a prepaid reservation. While the rental process itself was smooth, I had a frustrating experience upon returning the vehicle. I made sure to return the car in perfect condition—clean and with a full tank of gas (13.5 gallons). Despite this, I was unexpectedly charged $277.74. My car was recently totaled and per the adjuster they suggested I go to enterprise. Well, I went to enterprise and was told various things from different employees, I absolutely did not like the service. I would NEVER recommend this location on Veterans Memorial in St Charles the Manager is Nick. Well I decided to go to Avis/budget which was close by and I could not have been happier. 0/5 FULLY A SCAM Was charged a nonrefundable $450 cleaning fee. Wasn't made aware of this at time of booking, not that it matters, as it is simply their word against yours on the back end as to the "state" of the car upon return. $50 would be a scam already, but $450???? That's the same as it cost to rent the car for 2 whole weeks. This is like a hotel charging you a fee for not leaving the room clean for the next guest. If I could do zero, I would. My reservation stated that the car would be dropped off in Indiana but they made zero attempt to tell me that that would take my deposit and then tell me I’d owe more. We would have kept the car. I’m not sure if it in incompetence or just not giving a damn about customers but that was rude and sneaky. I need that back because my father passed away while I was out of town that I drove the car to and I needed that money to have him cremated. You should absolutely be ashamed of yourselves.
