Had a compact rental reservation a week in advance; tried to charge me $34 more for a larger vehicle because mine wasn't available. David told me to call customer service and he rented the car to someone else while I was on the phone. Looking through the negative reviews, it's obvious that the business model relies on renting compact vehicles that they do not have to then charge you an upgrade at pickup.
David at the desk was very straightforward. He explained everything very clearly And nicely. The car drove very well. I would rent it again.
I truly don't understand how this location has bad ratings. The slightly bit of inconvenience to spoiled people, and they rate it 1 star. Yes this location is small, yes it is short staffed, yes they have a limited amount of vehicles compared to a regular standalone location. I reserved a car online directly from Avis, when I arrived they said they didn't have any cars for me.
I have rented from David and his wife so many times, and it's always a great experience. This is the definition of a family-run local franchise, and they take customer service seriously. I admit I've definitely run into difficulties with some rentals, but it's always the obscenely outdated Avis computer system and not the local owner's fault.
