Our flight out of Santa Fe was cancelled and we needed a last‑minute way home. Even though it was late and most cars were already gone, the Avis counter agent, Jiddu, went out of his way to help. He coordinated with his manager to access cars from a back lot and handled a long line calmly and politely. Thanks also to the manager for their flexibility that let us to get on the road when it mattered. We had a bad experience a few months ago with Avis in Greenville, SC and this somewhat restored our faith.

I rented a vehicle from Avis expecting a straightforward experience, but the pricing structure was difficult to justify. The base rate initially appeared reasonable, but once the additional fees, insurance options, and upgrades were presented, the total cost escalated quickly. Many of the available vehicles felt significantly overpriced relative to their class and condition, especially when compared to competitors in the same market. UPDATE: I wrote in with all the details and was told to call in. I called in, spent another 30 minutes and was unable to get any help. I'm lost in a death spiral with Avis. No one seems to be able to resolve our issue. So it's Avis corporate and the Santa Fe location - I'd avoid Avis altogether. Extremely rude desk staff. Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Still fighting with Avis for money back on the rental because they gave us a car below the class we rented. Please take a good video of your car rental before and after you deal with these crooked AViS people at Santa Fe, NM. 3 months later we get a bill that the door was caved in and they had to repair it. These sorry people will find out I have the videos and you’ll be exposed shortly. Crazy! Update… I wonder who drove the car that extra 1400 miles or so on the odometer on the car after we turned it in. You may want to phantom charge them instead? Unbelievable!

Ms Rachel, Josh and Santa Clause (i.e., Dennis) might be our new favorite people in Santa Fe and here’s why… After a brief discussion on how sucky it was that my fellow travel companion, Christy, had been divorced twice and Josh’s tooth jewelry had only lasted 6 months, we decided that car rental didn't have to be.
