Both cars they gave me were damaged or smelled like weed and they dinged me for pre-existing in the one spot I missed a photo of. Avoid.

Somehow charged $964 for a Costco rental that was supposed to cost $444. I read other reviews before submitting this one, and it looks like this Avis location should be avoided.

We do not recommend using Avis in Albuquerque. The car we rented had bald rear tires. Also, the AC did not work and it would periodically shudder. We called in advance to detail the issues. Then we went to the airport to turn it in. It is obvious they don’t have many cars available because when we passed by, after finally finding another car with another rental car company, we saw that the car had been cleaned and was ready for the next renter with no effort to remedy any of the issues.

Lacking staff to man the Preferred Plus counter but attendant that arrived was very helpful and excellent customer service. Vehicle received had significant scratches and obviously hadn’t been washed in some time. Return process after hours was easy however the shuttle information online is completely incorrect. Shuttles do not run every 10 minutes, waited 30 plus minutes for a ride from the rental return to airport terminal.
