After 40 years as an Avis Car Rental Wizard member, I was so disappointed with my most recent experience that I cut my membership card in pieces and will never rent from them again. I booked a car through Avis' website for a one-way trip from Weston, FL to Jacksonville, FL and received a quote for an estimated total cost of $125.02. When I dropped off the vehicle at the Jacksonville airport, I was charged $480.31, including $348.48 for mileage (352 mi. at $0.99). I go to the location in Weston, Florida. It’s never crowded and the staff is always friendly.
I travel for extended periods in my profession. Avis/Budget reserved a large vehicle for my long term plan. When I arrived, my reservation was canceled. The main problem is that for 30 days Avis/Budget played games with me via email and phone calls about making my reservation right. In 30 days Avis was not able to offer me a car at any location, or any form of compensation, or any ideas on how to help me. They ignored the problem for a month and left me severely inconvenienced.
