Definitely not impressed. Having booked a car online giving both my and my husband's details and using my credit card for the booking, when we arrived, my driving licence was nowhere to be found. We were told that it was not possible to transfer the booking to my husband even though he was a named driver on the booking. Instead we would need to cancel that booking and make a new one in his name. This would increase the price from 360GBP to 490GBP. Oh dear, Avis. The price and service were great on pickup. The car was a nice MG. All was fine until (1) the sun was low in the sky and (2) we noticed a weird sound from the rear transmission. The inside of the front windscreen was filthy and we couldn't see a thing with low sun in the sky. It almost caused a crash. I rang the Avis helpline about the transmission, but after being told by robot I had a 30 minute wait, I sent an email that NEVER GOT ANSWERED. Really quite poor. Nice car, friendly staff, efficient service
My experience with Avis at Gatwick Airport was very disappointing. The staff seemed unwilling to help and appeared to look for reasons not to rent me a car, even though I provided all the required documents. The communication was unprofessional and not customer-friendly at all. I would advise others to double-check everything before booking with this branch, as the service was frustrating and uncooperative.
