I've been flying into MSP and using Avis frequently for just under 2 years at this point, and the experience has seemed to get steadily worse with each monthly/bi-monthly visit. Initially there were just issues with which terminal my reserved car was at vs. which terminal I land at. Example: I'm landing at Terminal 2 and enter my incoming flight number during booking, but when I arrive the vehicle assigned to me was at the Terminal 1 Avis location. REALLY A SCAM AT TERMINAL 2!!!! If you are returning your vehicle, avoid terminal 2. They will hold your vehicle for 1 additional day and check out late, then OVERCHARGE YOU.
Terrible wait..
Returned the car into T2 at 7:30AM. No one was around to take the car in, so I parked, left the keys, and went to my flight. The rental is due right now and it is still showing as checked out. I'm 2000 miles away and obviously can't return. The 612 number google has bounces me to the national number and there is "nothing they can do" to make sure my car is actually returned and checked in and that Avis has "48 hours" to find it, meanwhile I'm still accruing charges. This seems to be a trend at this rental facility at MSP. Here was my experience: Our name and vehicle was not on the Preferred Board, isn't that one of the advantages of being a Preferred Plus Customer? The manager at the Preferred Counter at the Minneapolis Airport tried to rent a vehicle to us, a Ford Escape, which was smaller than our booked vehicle that we had with the Costco Rental Program.
