You would think a smaller place would be able to meet the needs of the residences but avendelle of garner does not. Once it changed ownership, care went downhill. If a resident can't feed themselves the staff will barely assist. There was outdated thickener for food stored in the cabinet, clothes and other items would go missing. One staff member was taking a test in a residents room while the resident wasnt present. Very unprofessional. Should have a space alloted for staff to have breaks or take required tests. Our mother was at the Garner Avendelle facility for about 2 1\2 years. She had been at a larger facility in Virginia before coming to Avendelle. The care at Avendelle was noticeably different and much better than the care at the larger facility. Before coming to Avendelle, we were unfamiliar with the smaller residential style group home. But since our experience at there, we have recommended the smaller style to everyone we know. My mom was in the garner location for almost 3 years, she was well taken care of. I was thankful for having found them.
