I spoke with a lovely lady that helped me actually find the same kind of vehicle with a 30$ refund (since the prices are live they can vary a lot). I used Auto Europe to book a car in Croatia, and I prepaid the rental. The rental itself was easy and seamless, however when I got the final invoice I was charged the full amount from the actual rental company, without the prepaid amount deducted. Contacting the rental company was impossible, seems they never answer their phone. I raised a post-rental incident with Auto Europe as instructed, and after a week received an email that this will take a MINIMUM of 8 weeks. Why so long? Extremely disappointed by my experience with this company. I rented a car to be collected in Malaga Airport in August. When I arrived to collect the car from the airport I was informed that I could not collect the car because I only had a Canadian license and not an International Drivers License (IDL). In fairness, I have been directed to the part of the contract that states all non-European drivers must present an IDL. However, I also note that the contract states that an IDL MAY be required. This is the worst “customer service” experience I’ve had with a travel booking company. My case was handled by Alex from Auto Europe’s customer service, and I was shocked at how little effort was made to defend a paying customer’s rights. I booked a Peugeot 2008 over two months in advance, prepaid USD $705. At pickup, Europcar in Milan Malpensa claimed “no car available” and offered only a much smaller Fiat 600.
