We had very bizarre experience during the 2025 Pony Swim excursion. This is the email I sent - they have not responded. We got the tickets online for the 6pm ride. I think they overlooked places and that made us go on a boat. They didn't give us much explanation, but we had a great time because the captain and his crew knew a lot about the area, the fauna and the flora! the experience was excellent. Assateague Explorer itself didn't have much presence, but they did subcontract these two! It was the best thing they did! The Assateague Explorer website and the brosure, shows much more that they really looks.
Our captain was Shane. Professional and knowledgeable. Despite a windy conditions we stayed dry the whole time. The boat used was smaller pontoon with no bathroom but at capacity was still comfortable. Pictures on website have larger boat pulled up on shore next to horses, but our boat did not get close to shore. Great info on the island and history. Saw horses and bald eagles!!
I would give it zero stars if i could. We booked our cruise and received confirmation. We were sitting on the boat when party of 4 showed up and we were told to get off the boat because evidently the tour was overbooked. What a horrible way to run a business. I recommend to look for another trip provider or risk getting very disappointed.
This place advertises a nice big boat in the pictures. Talks about the bathrooms and seating. When you see the pictures and expect a nice ride, spend over a $100.00 and you get there and they crowd 9 people on a small pontoon with little to no cover, NO BATHROOMS . “BAIT And Switch “he did not take out the advertised boat. That makes me angry, I tried to tell him my concerns about putting so many people that close together in covid times but he wouldn’t even listen.
