The first time I came across As Kneaded Bakery, situated on its quiet half-circle of a street, I was charmed. It appeared to be the quixotic European bakery slotted right into an East Bay neighborhood. One of As Kneaded’s signature items is the bostock. Everything about my visit was wonderful. I had the seasonal kale salad and a cup of coffee. The salad tasted fresh and flavorful, and the coffee tasted like it had been freshly ground. The atmosphere was beautiful, and I really enjoyed my meal. The only thing that kept this from being a perfect experience was my interaction at the end. When I finished eating, I carried my dishes inside and approached an employee to hand them to her. She simply pointed to the dish return area and told me to place them there.
