I don’t believe having Golliwog based antique items on display in the shop is appropriate. The dolls have a racist origin in the blackface tradition, regardless of the era it’s sold in. The interactions with the shop assistant was pleasant. Edit: I didn’t approach the shop assistant as I had someone else with me, as I believed it wasn’t the time or the place to discuss it. Unfortunately when approached with concerns in regards of racist items or ‘Social history’ you do not know the response of the other person.
You must visit this Antiques store. High quality antiques with class. Very well maintained products. Owners are amazing. Very knowledgable and will go the extra mile for their customers. We will definately be back.
