1969 in 2005 Annapurna is a holdover from when Berkeley's Telegraph Avenue meant hippies, drugs, and radical politics. Now there's just a bunch of fake punk squatters and crazies. But you can still go into Annapurna and come out loaded with pipes, incense, and vibrators. One-stop shopping indeed.
This place is going on 50 years old...That is something to say considering the type of biz it is and how it lasted when others come and go... When I was a kid there was Annapurna and Piggy Malone's....Piggy's would allow me in when i was 16 and Annapurna not... Then, I was 18 and i couldn't tell you what happened to the other place...
