I received this flyer in my building mailbox and found the visual messaging deeply uncomfortable. The residents and guests are shown as overwhelmingly white, while every clearly visible service or care role appears to be performed by a person of colour. Whether intentional or not, this gives the impression of a racially coded hierarchy: white residents enjoying the lifestyle, while racialized people are most visibly positioned as serving, assisting, or providing care. A loved one lived here at Amica for 6 months. He loved his time here, and was treated very respectfully by all the staff. Luisa is so warm and welcoming to new residents, and makes moving in so smooth! The food was amazing, the building is always clean and beautifully maintained, and the concierge and third floor nursing staff are very helpful.
