American Haflinger Registry ( AHR ), which represents over 9000 North American Haflinger owners and over 20, 000 Haflingers, was formed in 1998 from the combined memberships of Haflinger Association of America ( HAA ) and the Haflinger Registry of North America ( HRNA ). By majority vote of both memberships, HAA and HRNA were dissolved to create a single unified registry North American Haflingers

I had high hopes for this organization in the beginning — there was excitement, national presence, and genuine opportunities to get involved and grow with the breed. Unfortunately, much of that has disappeared. The leadership seems more interested in serving personal agendas than the greater good, and that’s reflected in both policy and practice. For example, members are sometimes unfairly billed for "late" paperwork that wasn't actually late, which raises concerns about transparency and fairness. The breed deserves better. ... read more
