In the fall of 2019, I was advised by a colorectal physician that I needed an elective colectomy. He said my colon had shut down and that combined with my pelvic floor dysfunction, eventually my colon would explode and that if I didn’t die from the rupture/sepsis, it would be a very difficult surgery for him and I would end up with a colostomy bag.
