OWNER THREATENED TO CUT MY TABLE INTO PIECES. I sent pictures and spoke with the owner on the phone before bringing the table in to be sold. I asked several times if he could sell it for the amount I needed ($1,000). He avoided answering the question and kept saying "I will sell it for what you want." When I brought it in and unloaded it with the chairs, he said he would list it for $400. I said I would just take it home rather than make a profit of $200. Very careful when dealing with these people if you leave something on consignment if you do not pick it up within 5 days after the consignment the property becomes theirs they do not point that out to you they are very arrogant and I would recommend nobody to deal with them and if I could give them a negative five stars I would
Anyone reading this review please be very careful when doing business with Alter Home Consignment. I had a terrible experience where I purchased an item and on the day the merchandise was delivered, the mover demanded that I pay more. When I called to complain, the store manager and sales person were very rude, unapologetic, and they too insisted that I pay more! I also disagree with the previous review. Sarah J. seems to be having an issue with the delivery company, not with Alter Home. How was Alter Home's business shady? Sarah J. purchased an item, doesn't indicate there was a problem with the item, or charge, or anything else. Should, probably, write a review on moving company. Also, speculating on what may or may not happened is not useful ("This may not be the first time they've done this to a customer"). I totally disagree with the previous two reviews. More than that, I find it ridiculous. I bought furniture from Alter Home on several occasions, and recently for the first time I brought some of my stuff there to sell. I had to sign a contract that is about half a page long and it took me less than 2 minutes to read it. It specifically tells you about 90-day period (Damir D, what did you think it is - forever?) and the fact that you should keep track of it. Don't waste your time with these people. They are useless. They don't give or tell their customers that there is a 90-day contract meaning that if they don't sell it within 90-day they own your furniture. Owner claims that customers are responsible for calling them and picking up the furniture if not sold otherwise it's theirs. How would you know this if they don't disclose it?
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR CONSIGN AND SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE The owner of this company is ruthless. He gets you to consign your high end furnishing and does not give a copy of the contract, why? His words not mine " you have to ask for it" although you get a list of your items. If items are not picked up within 5 day of 90day mandatory agreement, he keeps all your furniture. I'm so glad I discovered this place! Wide variety of items and styles, very clean. It's fun to shop there.
You have heard all the horror stories about these guys on the news. They have you sign a contact that says they can low the price unti the item sells. Well I gave them a table I bought for $3000 2 years ago and did not have a scratch on it. Well they put my table in the back corner of the store and took 4mnths to sell. The set sold for $249.. I only recieved half of that. Beware of what you sign !!!!
