Alpine Helicopters saved the day! This past September, we had to reschedule our wedding portraits after thick smoke rolled in just three days before our elopement. It can be very dangerous to rely on them and they may want extra money to pick you up. We had pickup at the hut in the early afternoon. We used a satellite phone in the morning to get some updates, and then several times when they had a delay. The weather wasn't nice but mostly okay from my previous expediencies. We spent the entire day outside waiting at the spot. After 6 hours of delay, they answered asking for more money, otherwise we have to wait until the next morning. Overbooked, unreliable, and expensive helicopter transportation. They demanded extra payment for their already delayed pickup — otherwise, they would leave us stuck at the cottage in the mountains for an additional day, while prioritizing other customers’ heli-skiing. To make matters worse, we received no timely updates, even when contacting them via satellite phone.
