Bill was great and handled our last-minute request very well. He provided us with a car rack, helmets, and locks, ensuring we had lots of fun and stayed hydrated. Getting there can be tricky: Coming from Keaau-Pahoa Bypass Road, once you hit Paradise Drive, keep going straight for about half a mile until you see the fire department station. Then, make a left turn—the shop should be the second house down. There are no signs, but you will see bikes outside the house. (Also, bring cash & call ahead of time)

Bill was the nicest person we met on Hawaii and that’s saying something! On a whim, we decided to rent bikes when driving back from the south coast to Hilo. All Kine Bikes delivered—extremely reasonably priced rentals that included helmets and locks. We took hybrid bikes to Kaloli Point where road off road for a bit and did a Saturday crossword puzzle with sea cliff views. Next we rode to the Awapuhi Labyrinth, which has a well stocked little free library. Great afternoon in Hawaiian Paradise. (Bring cash!)
