Bagcheck policy is a total pain and as with ID check. I am 29 and the cashier claimed I looked 15 and wouldn’t take a photo of my passport as evidence utterly crazy stuff
Your grocery items are fine. But your backpack policy sucks. As a woman, I don't like using a purse; instead I prefer using a backpack. I find it doesn't bother my shoulders or neck as much. But anytime I go through the regular check out I get hassled about stealing because I use a backpack for my wallet and other essential items. I'm not a thief and it's humiliating to go through a backpack check when I never have this issue at Coles or Harris farms in Pacific Square.
