After filling up the cart with over 30 items, the cashier says if we are paying with card, we have to go to self checkout. I explained to what seemed like the manager behind the cashier that this was too much to do self check out and they just sorta shrugged at it. Well, the shopping cart was left where it was and we left. Not only is that poor customer service, but to require the customer to self checkout an entire shopping cart is ridiculous.
In general, I have a positive shopping experience at Aldi due to their reasonable prices and consistently fresh food. However, since this particular store just opened, there are a few issues that could be improved upon. The lights in the first row have been out for over a month, and the lack of pushcarts or hand baskets inside the building is inconvenient, requiring customers to go upstairs to the parking lot to retrieve a cart. This one security guard kept following me around and watching me. Every section I went to, he kept following me around to stand around where I was to watch me. I felt SO UNCOMFORTABLE! He even followed me to the registers to watch me check out. If you’re a women of color, just know he’s going to follow you no matter what.
