Sorry to see that this school hasnt changed! Reading these reviews brings back memories of when I attended back in 1980-I was lucky enough to drop out before too much of my money was wasted-I really cant believe it is still open! Please take these reviews to heart!

Total let down. I was told during my intial meeting with a counclor that they were afiliated with AHIMA for their Medical Billing and Insurance Coding program...NOT! I didnt find out the truth until the end of my courses when I asked AGAIN about the information. The coding classes were a joke "heres a list of diagnoses, go look them up in the book". In no way were were prepared for any sort of certification, thus I have not taken one. Ive spoken with people that have gone to different schools and then took the CPC exam, and ... read more

This "school" is a sham. I feel bad for all the people who waste their money & time at this place. They take advantage of people who have no idea about reasonable cost, transferring credits, or how a quality higher education should be. Anyone considering this place should take a ten minute detour and go to Akron U, where at least u kno ur getting quality. I was lucky and after one semester got the f*** outta there becuz I REFUSE to let them waste my money. The teachers are NOT certified in the classes they teach- how can a b... read more

If I knew then, what I know now, I would never have chosen The Akron Institute. They dont care about the students at all. Money is their main concern. They dont provide the resources you need and expect you to pay more for them. That is after paying the tuition. Mine is \$14000 at last update. They schedule your classes out of order, which makes it harder. I have had a teacher in 2 medical classes that didnt even have a medical background or medical degree. In the last class she taught, she knew nothing about the subject. I ... read more
