Our (my wife and I went together) first eagle photography workshop with AJ Harrison was in early February 2024. We flew into Des Moines Iowa. It was unusually warm so AJ guided us to eagle photography spots in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. Although I am experienced amateur photographer, I did not have much experience taking pictures of birds. He was patient and helped me with my Nikon camera. I have gone on 2 photography workshops with AJ (Great Gray Owls in Minnesota and Eagles in Homer). He’s amazing! He’s a skilled photographer who can give instruction if needed. He understands bird behavior and correctly alerts photographers when a bird is about to do something that will be photo worthy (calling out, launching, etc). AJ is also an amazing person. He’s kind, funny, extremely affable. I highly recommend going on a workshop with AJ, you’ll have a great time, make new friends, and get amazing shots!
AJ is an amazing guide and really cares about improving your skill as a photographer and helping you get amazing shots 📸. Well worth your investment, don’t hesitate!
The photo workshop with AJ Harrison was a highlight of my photographic experience. Focussed on Great Gray Owls, the workshop was well organized, personable, fun and productive. AJ set me up for some terrific shots. He has unbelievable ability to spot owls in the wild and set photographers up for the best angle. I note that AJ DOES NOT bait the owls, but uses his knowledge of owl behavior to position us for great opportunities. AJ made the tour fun and memorable.
