I would never have chosen to rent from Advantage if given the choice as I'm not familiar with them and because they sound like a generic company. But, I booked via Hotwire and my "surprise, your company is..." ended up being these guys instead of Alamo who I usually end up with 99% of the time. Advantage Rent A Car was budget-friendly, but the experience was hit or miss. The pricing seemed competitive, but the rental counter felt slow, and upselling was noticeable. My family and I had to triple-check charges, as unexpected fees popped up during the process. The vehicle itself was clean and reliable, but customer service wasn’t the most engaging. If you’re looking for an affordable rental, it’s worth considering, but being extra cautious with the paperwork is a must.
There was a bit of a wait, but people were asking so many unnecessary questions at the counter! Do your research to make it faster for the rest of us in line. The agents were friendly and helpful. When it was my turn it took around 5 minutes. The car was as I had reserved and ready to go. The shuttle is curbside, across from the baggage claim - so don’t walk to where the other shuttles pick you up.
It has been 4 years since we rented a car here, but it was not a great experience. 24 hours after we were back home they sent us an angry email in ALL CAPS accusing us of not returning the car. They told us we owed them $$$ to replace the brand new Camaro (300 miles on it). We called and called and couldn't get through to talk to anyone at the extension they gave us. We got a van from them in August 2019 and they were very, very, very slow. The van was fine.
