A gem of a place and a wonderful shopkeeper, funny and uninterested in merchant-like friendliness, yet attentive and genuine. This little slither of Golborne road is a treasure trove of antiques fit for modern life. Thank you David for matching us with such a special piece.
Great place. Found a beautiful table here, gold mine. The owner was funny intelligent and knew his stuff. Even helped us jump start our car, as we got a flat battery outside lol.
Anyone who visits 'Portobello Market'/ 'Notting Hill' should go out of their way to visit '88 Antiques'. It's owner is the quintessential, eccentric, Anglo-Irishman, whose wit and honesty rivals John Cleese in his hey day. Either you will be enchanted by his magic, or you will find him offensive, (like the other reviewer!) There is no in-between. Anyone with a truly inquisitive mind, will benefit from the experience of being in Mr Lucas's Space...
My experience at this store on many occasions was disappointing. The staff is extremely rude and disrespectful. Multiple times I brought in valuable items and they show no interest what so ever. One time in particular I brought in a very valuable items and they laughed in my face. The staff is unprofessional and just plain ignorant. Do not waste your money or time at this store.
