I had a very concerning experience with a middle-aged male security guard at the university library. While I was using the printer, he repeatedly hovered around me and watched me closely, then approached me and made personal comments about my appearance. This behavior felt inappropriate and unprofessional, especially in an academic environment. 1 Star – Unsafe, Discriminatory, and Poorly Managed Environment This 24-hour library is unacceptable. Homeless individuals are allowed to remain inside, talking, sleeping, and snoring, disrupting students. There is a clear double standard. Minority students or students studying alone are frequently targeted, while groups such as attractive white girls in groups and large, physically imposing groups of men are able to be loud in quiet areas without consequences. The 18th avenue library has adequate accessibility features. When entering the building from 18th avenue there is a wheelchair accessible ramp to the entrance. The ramp leads up to the external entrance doors, one of which has a mechanical opener. After entering the first set of doors, you are greeted with a small space and then another set of entrance doors, one again which has an accessible mechanical opening button.
